Press ReleaseIN THE LIGHT OF TRUTH: The Grail MessageAbd-ru-shin |
For fifty years, In the Light of Truth has captivated European readers with clear-eyed wisdom. Outlawed by the Nazis and banned by the Communist rulers of East Germany, In the Light of Truth has survived, to be translated into 17 languages and read by spiritual seekers in 85 countries around the world.
The man who would become Abd-ru-shin was born Oskar Ernst Bernhardt in Bischofswerda, Germany. He lived during the cataclysms that shook Europe and the world in the first half of the twentieth century. Because he happened to be in London at the outbreak of World War I, Mr. Bernhardt found himself in a British internment camp for enemy aliens. There he passed the long days inquiring into the meaning of Life. More and more the desire awakened in him to share his insights with humanity. After the war, Abd-ru-shin shared his message in a series of public lectures that attracted a wide following. In 1923, he began to write these lectures down, shaping them into essays that would become part of this three volume guide to creation.
While Abd-ru-shin wrote and explained his message, his homeland yielded to Nazi dogma. In September of 1938, he was arrested, and his land and property were confiscated. On December 6, 1941, he died a victim of the regime that had plunged the world into another great war.
Today, his masterwork speaks to new generations grappling with the dilemmas that have plagued humanity since time began: Who am I? Why am I here? How should I live? What happens when I die? Abd-ru-shin's answers to these questions can be harsh at times, then luminous with certitude.
Translated from the original German, this is not a work to please the casual reader or encourage the fanatic in his fanaticism; it is intended for the seeker who is willing to experience its explanations with a full heart and an open mind. As Abd-ru-shin himself said, in the prologue to Vol. I:
"The Message will strike only those who still carry within them a spark of truth, and the yearning to be true human beings. To all such it will become the shining light and staff. It will lead them unswervingly out of all the chaos of the present-day confusion."
